Ramon Gras Alomà, Aretian Urban Analytics and Design co-founder and Harvard researcher, was invited to deliver a presentation and contribute to a panel at the Venice Biennale Architettura 2023 taking place in Venice, Italy, last week. This was the 18th International Architecture Exhibition that is currently taking place and that started on May 20th and will last until November 26th, 2023. This exhibition gathers architects and urban planners to discuss the sensitive issues and challenges of the future and create some long-lasting urban and architectural solutions. The theme of the Biennale this year is “The Laboratory of the Future”, which suits Aretian’s mission very well, and coincides with the up-and-coming publication of the new Aretian book “City Science: Performance follows Form''.
The Venice Biennale Architettura is one of the world's most prestigious and renowned events in the field of architecture. It is an international exhibition that takes place every two years in Venice, Italy. The event showcases contemporary architecture and serves as a platform for architects, designers, and artists from around the world to present their work, engage in discourse, and explore the latest trends and ideas in architecture. Ramon delivered a presentation presenting some of the key ideas developed in the book, and contributed to the panel and discussion “Zero Gravity Urbanism: Principles for New Liveability'' alongside MIT City Science researcher Luis Alonso, and New York Institute of Technology researcher Marcella del Signore. The presentations and panel held at Abbazia di San Gregorio in Venice were moderated by Joan Anton Sánchez, one of the urban development leaders at NEOM, the futuristic linear city in Saudi Arabia, in the context of the broader Biennale.
The Biennale di Architettura encourages critical thinking, dialogue, and collaboration within the architectural community, fostering an exchange of ideas and promoting innovation in the field. One of Aretian Urban Analytics and Design’s co-founders, Ramon Gras Alomà, was invited to participate in dialogues and panel conversations as a thought leader and field specialist in the urban design panel.
