On November 3rd, 2025, Aretian Urban Analytics and Design proudly unveiled the Barcelona Metropolitan Digital Twin, a groundbreaking digital platform developed in collaboration with the Torras-Lombana Family Foundation and Barcelona Global. The launch event, “Un Digital Twin per a la Regió Metropolitana de Barcelona: Quan la ciència de les ciutats revoluciona l’urbanisme”, brought together more than 300 participants, including representatives of the government of Catalonia, several cities from the Metropolitan Region of Barcelona, private-sector leaders, and innovation partners. We extend our sincere thanks to all attendees, panelists, and contributors, as well as to our new collaborators NVIDIA and Lenovo for their invaluable support.

A powerful tool for data-driven decision-making
The Barcelona Metropolitan Digital Twin introduces advanced analytical capabilities and five in-depth case studies designed to support strategic, evidence-based urban decision-making:
Housing Challenge – Strategic planning for 475,000 new homes by 2050, addressing housing needs for over 700,000 residents.
Economic Strategy – Analysis of 443 industrial clusters across 10 industries to strengthen regional competitiveness.
Knowledge Economy Vision – Mapping 58 research centers across 12 knowledge domains to foster innovation and long-term prosperity.
Mobility Flows – Modeling public transport demand to reduce travel times, accidents, and emissions.
Urban Design Guidelines – Defining standards for vibrant, walkable, and sustainable 15-minute cities.
More than a map, the Aretian City Digital Twin is a living digital replica of the metropolitan region of Barcelona, empowering public and private leaders to visualize scenarios, analyze complex systems, and make informed decisions with confidence.

At Aretian Urban Analytics and Design, our mission is to improve people’s daily lives by helping governments and organizations make smarter, data-driven decisions that integrate best practices and cutting-edge innovation. We are deeply grateful for the continued collaboration with Barcelona Global and the Torras-Lombana Family Foundation, and we look forward to the next phase of our partnership with global technology leaders NVIDIA and Lenovo, which will further position our City Digital Twin as one of the most advanced tools on the market.
