Aretian Urban Analytics and Design recently participated in the Harvard Startup Week and explained to Harvard students the advantages of working in a startup. The event was organized by the Harvard Office of Career Services and took place on Monday the 22nd of February.
During this event, Fernando Yu introduced Aretian’s work, goals, and values, and shared his insights on how working in a startup allows for a deeper understanding of a company's operations to many interested Harvard students. Aretian presented with several talented founders and managers such as Karthy Chandra (Goalden Hour), Stephen Rickli (Verkada), Roxanne Petraeus (Ethena), Shalen De Silva (Vincere Health), and Caroline Hubbard (Better.com).
Fernando proceeded to describe the pros and cons of working for startups or for big companies, as the two models present very different lifestyles for employees. Being in a startup showcases how companies operate and develop from the founding stages to later phases, they offer more flexibility, develop merit-based work environments. Startups offer innovation and meritocracy, as everyone is able to demonstrate their skills to help grow the company.
