The Aretian Urban Analytics and Design team recently presented Aretian’s Barcelona Metropolitan Region City Digital Twin (CDT) at Antoni Gaudí's Casa Milà (La Pedrera) in Barcelona, last month. The whole project was supported by several important local and international stakeholders such as Barcelona Global, the Torras Family Foundation, and IESE Business School. The Aretian Urban Analytics and Design team, a Harvard University startup based in Cambridge Massachusetts, fully designed this state-of-the-art project revolutionizing the way to optimize cities.
The Aretian team was delighted to contribute to the event in such a prestigious venue in Barcelona and to present the Barcelona Metropolitan Region Digital Twin alongside prestigious public administration and private sector leaders. The leaders who contributed to the event were carefully selected to represent the city of Barcelona in its entirety, ensuring a diversity of opinions and expertise. Mercè Conesa Pagès of Barcelona Global, Michael Donaldson of the Barcelona City Council, Professor Andreu Mas-Colell of BIST and the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Pilar Diaz of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Xavier Garcia Albiol of the Ajuntament de Badalona, Damià Calvet i Valera of the Àrea Metropolitana de Barcelona (AMB), Jaume Armengou Orús of the IESE Business School, Ruth N. López Turley of Rice University, Ignacio Torras of the Torras Family Foundation and Maria Galindo Garcia-Delgado from the Generalitat de Catalunya all contributed personally to the success of the event.
Several Aretian team members also contributed directly to the amazing success of the event by showcasing the Aretian capabilities and the fascinating work they had been conducting for months; Aretian’s CEO Ramon Gras introduced the City Science and Urban Design methodology developed at Harvard University in recent years, and Elijah Munn, Céleste Richard, and Pablo Rocabert Messa presented different aspects of the Aretian CDT and other members who were not present still contributed to the event from the United States; Fernando Yu, Peyton Gibson, Gauthier de La Ville-Baugé, Caleb Yee and Bernat Salbanyà-Rovira. Both the Barcelona Metropolitan Region Digital Twin prototype and the Aretian Report entitled 'A Vision for Barcelona's Future, City Science illuminating Urban and Economic Development', were delivered that week, unveiling key insights from an extensive benchmarking analysis between Amsterdam, Boston, Munich, Stockholm and Barcelona.
The Aretian team would like to thank all the numerous attendees and the wonderful people who contributed to the success of the project, starting with the Torras Family Foundation (Ignacio Torras and Isabel Lombana) and Barcelona Global (including Cristina Clotet Ollé and Esther Grávalos) for their support, as well as the key public administration agencies in Barcelona and the broader Catalonia who will benefit from the Metropolitan Region Digital Twin.
