Ramon Gras, Aretian cofounder, attended the Pioneering the Future Nissan Innovation Forum event

Ramon Gras Alomà, Aretian Urban Analytics and Design co-founder and Harvard researcher, recently presented at the event organized by the IX Nissan Innovation Forum: Pioneering the Future. He presented key insights from recent Aretian research on urbanism and mobility, and described the findings of the new Aretian book “City science: Performance Follows Form”, a book gathering insights on 100 cities worldwide which advances a new science of cities.

During this event, he delivered a Keynote Speech, had an interview with Rocío Vidal (La Gata de Schrödinger), and contributed to a panel alongside scientific journalist Marta del Amo, and speakers Óscar Pulido (Transport & Environment), Jordi Vila (VP), and Bruno Mattucci (General Director). Ramon discussed technological advances in AI modeling of urban planning and mobility models, as well as the positive impact that derives from this cutting-edge technology. The organization of this event was managed thanks to Francesc Corberó Vinyals and Elisabet Sanchez and their respective teams.

This new book “City Science: Performance follows Form” presents an extended study of 100 urban environments and metropolitan areas throughout the World, on the 5 different continents. This study replicates in a three-dimensional manner the morphological features of cities and metropolitan areas, as well as the economic and human systems that inhabit them. This research allows us to compare and contrast - in terms of urban performance - not only the quality of the architectural and urban design characteristics and civil engineering infrastructures, but also the impact that those systems have on the quality of life of citizens. This book answers some of the most crucial questions in modern urbanism such as: to what extent are cities able to provide 15-minute city standards? How are cities able to provide and shape a prosperous knowledge economy? As well as a good and efficient intermodal mobility and transportation system? Among other important urban topics.
